This course is designed to provide participants an understanding of pertinent budget legislation, how agencies get funding, budget formulation, the Congressional budget process, budget execution, reviews, audits and the budget of the United States.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
Identify major legislation affecting the federal budget process
Track the four phases of the budget process and the budget timeline Identify the roles of major players in the budget process
Summarize the process by which Congress and OMB allocate funds to agencies
Explain how agency budget submissions contribute the President's budget formulation
Outline how agencies use and track their allocated funds
List the methods established to audit the use of federal funds
Quantify the size and scope of the current President's budget
